CaptionWit™ ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the CaptionWit™ mobile application.
1. What We Collect
Account information — email address and authentication tokens used to manage your account.
Guest Access — If you do not sign in with an Apple Account, we use an anonymous device identifier to maintain your WitToken balance. This ID cannot be used by us to identify you personally.
Caption generation history — the AI-generated caption text and scene descriptions only. We do not store your photos.
Caption feedback — if you rate a caption using emoji reactions, that anonymous rating is stored to help us improve caption quality. No personal data is attached to these ratings.
Purchase history and WitToken balance — records of in-app purchases and your current credit balance.
2. How Your Photos Are Handled
When you generate captions, your photo is temporarily uploaded to a secure cloud hosting service (Uploadcare) so that our AI can analyze it. The AI studies the image and generates your captions.
Important:
We do NOT permanently store your photos on our servers.
We do NOT use your photos to train any AI models.
We do NOT share your photos with any third parties beyond what is needed to generate your captions.
When you tap a caption to share, the caption is burned onto your photo on your device to create a captioned image. This captioned image is created and shared entirely from your device — it is not uploaded to or stored on our servers.
Only the AI-generated text — the captions and scene description — is saved to your caption history.
3. Third-Party Services
Uploadcare — Temporary photo hosting for AI analysis.
OpenAI — Caption generation. Photos are sent for analysis but are not stored or used for training per OpenAI's data usage policy.
RevenueCat — We use RevenueCat to manage in-app purchases and verify entitlements. No photo data is ever shared with RevenueCat; they only process transaction receipts and token balances.
Apple App Store — In-app purchases and payment processing.
4. What We Don't Do
We do NOT permanently store your photos.
We do NOT use your photos to train AI models.
We do NOT sell or share your personal data.
We do NOT upload or store your captioned images — they are created and shared entirely from your device.
We do NOT collect location data, browsing history, or device telemetry.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and caption history for as long as your account is active. You may delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Account tab within the app. Upon deletion, your caption history will be permanently removed.

7. Children's Privacy
CaptionWit™ is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app. Your continued use of CaptionWit™ after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
